San Sebastián is a coastal resort town on the Bay of Biscay in Spain’s mountainous Basque Country. The Hotel de Londres sits right on the picturesque Bayfront promenade surrounded by gourmet restaurants in the cobblestoned old town. There are many boutiques and pintxo bars pairing local wines with bite-sized regional specialties.
In April the warmer weather starts and averages 13 degrees C, with about 12 hours of daily sunshine; mild and great for walking, sightseeing or sailing, if it’s not raining (which is the other possibility!) Highs can reach to 17 degrees C and have been known to be much higher, but it will be best to err on the side of caution. The sea is literally over the road so the braver people can have a swim!
Flights to San Sebastián are ideal as the airport is only 30 minutes away (approx. 37 EUR taxi fare). All flights into San Sebastián are internal so best to connect through Madrid or Barcelona.
Alternatively you can fly into Biarritz which is the next closest airport at 45 minutes away approx 120 EUR (including tolls), then Bilbao – just over one hour 140 EUR but a bus (PESA) runs every hour costing 16.00 EUR one way
We emphasize that there are few local flights in and out of San Sebastián particularly with a limited option of leaving on a Friday (at time of going to press), so booking early will ensure you can get exactly what you want.
Dress code is smart casual throughout and families and partners welcome.
