CODE OF BUSINESS PRACTICE FOR MARINE ACCOUNTING AUTHORITIES

MEMBERSHIP

The Code is open to signature by any reputable Accounting Authority who meets the basic criteria for eligibility. It is not necessary to be a member of CIRM. The Code is operated on a non-profitmaking basis, and signatories pay an annual subscription to cover administrative costs, as decided at the annual General Meeting of Signatories.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Accounting Authorities formally undertake to comply with standards specified in the Code.
  • Names of Signatories are widely published. Shipowners are encouraged to select AAs who are Signatories to the Code, knowing that they can rely on quality service
  • Voluntary observance of the Code is assured because any Signatory who does not comply will suffer the commercial consequences of being omitted from the list

HOW TO JOIN

The formal undertaking should be signed by an authorised Director of the company, and the application submitted, with the appropriate subscription (£500), through the Secretary-General, to whom all enquiries should be addressed. Application forms may be obtained from the Secretariat.
